September 2012
- The month kicked-off with the LEA revealing the successful applicants for the 3rd round of LEA full sim land grants
- I speculated a little more on the (still) forthcoming link-up with Steam
- Advanced warning BOOFest arrived

- Firestorm officially became the most stable viewer in use in SL
- The time came to say farewell to “Spirit”
- LL courted upset by closing the public JIRA although they did launch a project viewer containing the new Group Services “fixes”
- Burn2 announced their guest artists for the event
- More information on the JIRA change emerged as did more information on materials processing
- I revamped this blog and asked for feeback; it duly came, and was largely positive
- Saint Torley’s Day was once again celebrated
- I finally got to look at the Group Tools client for SL
- After having been absent for a while, I dropped in on Ample Clarity’s PrimPossible to see what is going on
- The Lab announced Creatorverse and Patterns; my reactions were mixed, and comparisons between Patterns and Minecraft quickly started
- My weekly SL project update reports launched
- I played around with avatar height as a matter of personal choice (and admit to falling back on my older, larger avatar size of late)
- Malcolm Dunne arrived as LL’s new CFO
- Patterns became available to pre-order & I pre-order
- After recent updates from LL, I sought to provide a round-up of news and information on pathfinding
- With everything going on, I took a look at LL, SL and the question of new products and why I didn’t think they spelt the end of Second Life
- Kirsten’s Viewer popped-up with an unexpected update, and I got nostalgic
- Marketplace issues got something of an update
- A chance comment at a User Group meeting got me speculating on the matter of SL “large regions”

- I recalled the heyday of the official Second Life blog with a visit to the archives
- Away from SL, I continued my reports on MSL / Curiosity and also updated on SunAeon, after they ported-in more of my modest contributions to the project; Kitely further ramp-up with faster world loads, new transfer stations and more.
October
- The start of the season of witches, warlock, gremlins and more, oh my, saw Seanchai Library SL ramp-up with mood-setting tales. If you’ve never attended any of the Library’s events, you really should. The stories continued right through the month
- I wondered whether the lack of meaningful feedback from the Commerce Team, coupled with repeated errors was completely eroding merchant trust; oddly enough, LL provided an update just a couple of days later; it still didn’t help, really;
- Patterns was launched in a “Genesis Release”, which I promptly took a look at and largely enjoyed; later in the month I looked at the first update

- Valve launched their new non-game software categories, which had been subject to speculation as to whether they’d be SLviewer’s home following the Steam link up
- Lorca Linden provided further feedback on pathfinding and simulator performance
- Following major issues with a Release Candidate deployment on LeTigre, the Lab considered ways of avoiding similar situations in the future
- Rod Humble talked new products and all with Giant Bomb, and I summarised
- A bunch of us joined Oskar Linden in a network pile-on test
- Magus Freston and Gaia Clary offered-up an enhancement to the mesh uploader
- After Rod Humble promised of more communications vis-a-vis Marketplace, I suggested more might be required …
- …. However, Rod had his attention elsewhere, promoting the company’s new products
- BUT, as a result of the interview, he confirmed that I read things correctly, and that LL are looking to develop more virtual worlds
- A JIRA slip-up revealed a forthcoming promotion from LL & I speculated … in completely the wrong direction
- The Lab launched CHUI, the Communications Hub User Interface
- After a lengthy wait, Catzip roared back with a sizeable update of goodies
- Rod Humble gave away a little more about the Lab’s upcoming Versu and Dio
- I reviewed a year back as a Premium member
- News on SL projects continued to be provided via my SL projects updates
- On the personal side, I confessed I’d fallen in love with sailing in SL, which later in the month led me to try my hand at flying – which in turn saw me resume an old SL pastime of skydiving
- Away from SL, my MSL coverage continued; Kitely extended their pricing model; I returned to Kitely and Fallingwater for snapshots and more
