Updates for the week ending Sunday, March 31st

This summary is generally published every Monday, and is a list of SL viewer / client releases (official and TPV) made during the previous week. When reading it, please note:

  • It is based on my Current Viewer Releases Page, a list of all Second Life viewers and clients that are in popular use (and of which I am aware), and which are recognised as adhering to the TPV Policy. This page includes comprehensive links to download pages, blog notes, release notes, etc., as well as links to any / all reviews of specific viewers / clients made within this blog.
  • By its nature, this summary presented here will always be in arrears, please refer to the Current Viewer Release Page for more up-to-date information.
  • Note that for purposes of length, TPV test viewers, preview / beta viewers / nightly builds are generally not recorded in these summaries.

  1. Am I missing something here, or is the the first time that the Bakes on Mesh viewer has reached RC status? Also, how often have there been FIVE RC viewers (EEP, EAM, BoM, maintenance, and Love Me Render) at the same time?

    1. BoM has just been promoted to RC, yes.

Having five RC viewers is uncommon. Things are currently backed up for a number of reasons, including a recent Chrome / Chromium security issue that required a CEF (used in media playback) update & the Lab wanted to get this into all of the (then) current group of RCs, rather than promoting & this updating.

There have also been assorted back-end changes that have held-up EEP and EAM, w2hile EEP also has a number of issues that have still to be resolved (although the list is narrowing), and some concerns that may or may not be dealt with in the initial release – see my March 29th TPVD meeting notes).

Most of the bottlenecks have now been dealt with – so expect things to move forward, possibly with the promotion of the Love Me Render viewer this week.
