Scare Me Silly 2021, in support of the American Diabetes Association (ADA), opened its doors on Friday, October 15th, 2021, and will remain open through until October 22nd.

Organised by Team Diabetes of Second Life, the event features live performances. DJ parties, a hunt and a quest, tricks and treats, a haunted mansion, ghostly rides and – of course – shopping!

Team Diabetes 2019 Winter Showcase

The 2019 Team Diabetes of Second Life Winter Showcase event is currently open through until  Saturday, December 14th. As with previous years, the event includes live performers, DJs, concerts, tribute acts, hunts, ice skating, and, of course the Winter Showcase and the Kultivate Winter Art show. All of which is to raise money for the American Diabetes Association (ADA), through Team Diabetes of Second Life, ADA’s official and authorised in-world fund-raising team.

As is traditional for the event, it occupies one half of the Kultivate Magazine home region, with the Showcase shops for merchants and artists boutique style galleries built around the  central events and activities area.

The merchants participating in the event comprise: Kiliki Bikini, !!Firelight!!, chiffon,Christmas Delights, Couture Chapeau, Epicine, GalleryOne, HJM Designs, ikr, Jyst imagine by Vita Theas, Kalani’s Designs, Kitty Creations, Kittycat’s Creations, LC Fashion, Lissa’s Licks, Lunar Seasonal Designs, Mahlberg Tailors, Mara’s Mysteries,MMP – Muircastle Motors & Parts, Park Place Home, Potomac Signature Homes, Sassy Brats, Shylas Creation, Simply Shelby, trawberry Gashes, SynCo, Team Diabetes Shop, TORN, TYLAR’S TREASURES, and Xplicit Designs.

In addition to the shopping and art, the event features two hunts with prizes to be claimed:

  • 2019 Reindeer Hunt Information: this is an open hunt with tiny reindeer scattered throughout the 2019 Winter Showcase, in stores and in art displays. Find each reindeer and pay L$10 to receive a prize. 100% proceeds of the hunt goes to Team Diabetes of Second Life.
  • Santa Quest: purchase a HUD for L$250 from the kiosk near the landing point and help put Santa together again! Find the pieces, put things together and claim 16 prizes.

There is also daily entertainment through the event, with the remain days comprising:

The Skeleton Quest can be joined for L$250 (all proceeds to Team Diabetes). Use the HUD to find the pieces of skeleton scattered inside the haunted house. Put him together again and claim a goodie bag of 15 prizes.

The week-long Scare Me Silly Photo Challenge includes a prize pool of L$5,000. Entries must be made by Wednesday, October 23rd.

Autumn Art Show

The Kultivate Autumn Art Show will also be taking place during Scare Me Silly, with the art display located to one side of the event area. Team Diabetes of Second Life announces 2019 season

Team Diabetes of Second Life has announced their 2019 fund-raising season. Founded in 2015 by Jessi2009 Warrhol and John Brianna (Johannes1977 Resident), Team Diabetes of Second Life is the official and authorised team of the American Diabetes Association in SL.

Their mission is to raise awareness, tolerance, and funds for diabetes in the virtual world of Second Life. According to the World Health Organisation in 2016 some 422 million adults in the world have diabetes and 1.5 million deaths are directly attributed to diabetes each year.

The 2019 Team Diabetes of Second life season will run from October through to December, with the following events scheduled to take place:

  • October 18th though 26th: Scare Me Silly (off-season event – see below).
  • November 1st through 30th: National Diabetes Month, featuring:
    • November 1st through 30th: The Red Hunt.
    • November 3rd: The Red Ball.
    • November 14th: World Diabetes Day.
  • December 5th to December 14th: Christmas Showcase & Winter Art Show.

Scare Me Silly

Scare Me Silly is an annual event taking place around Halloween. It features live performances. DJ parties, a hunt and a quest, tricks and treats, a haunted mansion, ghostly rides and – of course – shopping!

As noted above, this year the event will take place from Friday, October 18th through Saturday, October 26th inclusive. Registrations for the event from both merchants and artists are now open, and the application form, with guidelines and terms can be found here.

The 2018 Team Diabetes of Second Life Winter Showcase event opens on November 30th, 2018 and runs through until December 8th, inclusive. As with previous years, the event will include ten days of live performers, DJs, concerts, tribute acts, hunts, ice skating, ice fishing and, of course the Winter Showcase and the Kultivate Winter Art show. All to raise money for the American Diabetes Association (ADA), through Team Diabetes of Second Life, ADA’s official and authorised in-world fund-raising team.

As is traditional for the event, it occupies one half of the Kultivate Magazine home region, with the Showcase shops for merchants and artists boutique style galleries built around the  central events and activities area.
