Updates for week ending: 8 April, 2012

Slightly late this week, due to Easter.

There were several changes last week, some of which fell just after publishing the Week 13 round-up. Changes are always reflected in the Round-up page as soon as I learn about them, so always best to follow the links to that page for the most up-to-date news.

  • The SL Beta and Development Viewers rolled out updated versions shortly after the last update, moving to  3.3.1.252229 and 3.3.2.252822 respectively
  • The Pathfinding Beta Viewer moved to release 3.3.2.252475
  • Dolphin saw a further release, 3.3.2.23722, which primarily comprised updates to the Build floater, with clean-up to Preferences and improvements to ID3 info on Linux
  • The Kokua team released an experimental version of their Viewer for the Mac
  • Niran’s Viewer saw a Preview release of version 1.33
  • Zen Viewer rolled to version 3.3.2.6, the release technical being this week, but as this summary is running late, it’s listed here as well
  • Cool VL Viewer rolled out 1.26.4.7 (.7b in the case of Linux due to repackaging). This release saw the port of the Merchant Outbox support
  • I received word via Twitter that the Astra Viewer is likely to be making a return to SL; as and when this happens, it will be added to this list.

This last week has been a busy one, with numerous updates, some connected to Direct Delivery, others as a result of RLV updates.

Change in Format

I’m moving the weekly listing to a page on its own for ease of reference – see viewer review panel on the right of the home page for this blog. From this week, I’ll be running a quick highlight of any updates with a link to the main Viewer Round-up page, which also now catalogues all reviews I’ve written on each of the Viewers I keep an eye on. Round-up will always refer to the previous week.

Updates for week ending: 25 March, 2012

After the rush with updates on the 19th (just after I published my last update, forcing me to update the update!), with Niran’s Phoenix and Firestorm all getting news versions, things have been relatively quiet.

  • Linden Lab have launched a new Pathfinding Project Viewer – currently works on the Beta Grid for pathfinding
  • Niran’s Viewer upped from 1.30 to 1.31, with further floater customisations
  • Zen Viewer went to release 3.3.2.0 with the addition of the Merchant’s Outbox
  • Cool VL Viewer rolled out 1.26.4.5 with “minimal” DD support – Henri is apparently working on a port of the Outbox code, so don’t expect it in this release & give him a change to code / test 🙂
  • Radegast issued release 1.26, with better inventory support links, DD notifications support, and improvements to the scene viewer

Text-based Clients (New)

This is intended to be a weekly round-up of current public SL ciewers / clients (of which I’m aware / for which I have information / which I can run (Windows / Android)). As few Viewers are static, and releases are made according to individual development cycles, further versions of any given viewer / client may well be released between these updates, and as such the information here may become out-of-date as the week progresses. Please check with the relevant download pages.

Updates for week ending: 11 March, 2012

A day late due to RL commitments yesterday.

A quiet week – only the Usual Suspects 🙂 updating in the TPV arena – Dolphin, Niran’s, Zen and Cool VL  LL have updated their Beta Viewer, dated March 1st – although I swear that wasn’t the one I got in my weekly download / check for the March 5th Round-up. The Development Viewer has also been updated, with all others remaining as-is.

Updates for week ending: 4 March, 2012

As per usual, a number of updates this week. LL released a new version of their Development Viewer and updated the Direct Delivery Project Viewer. Catznip went to release R6 and got a TPV Directory listing (congrats!), marking their “official” graduation to public Viewer. Lance issues his “Fujiyama” release of Dolphin (2.3.9.23177), so-called as it includes various photography updates. Niran’s Viewer hit release 1.28 and Zen 3.3.1.1, with releases of these Viewers averaging at one per week. Cool VL moved to 1.26.4.1, and appears to have seen the removal of the experimental versions (none listed on the blog when checked today).  All others remain unchanged.
