SL9B: Calling all SLB events and organisers!

As promised, the centralised SL9B sims will feature an events hub that is available for other SL9B events to be advertised. The hub will be located in the welcome area, immediately available to those arriving, allowing other communities and events to promote the SLB celebrations they are holding this year as well.

If you are organising or host an SLB event, then the organisers of SL9B would like to hear from you! Here’s what to do:

  • Create a notecard with all the relevant information on the event: description, date(s) / time(s), venue(s), maturity rating, SLurl and anything else you think will encourage someone reading it to attend your event
  • Create a “poster” to advertise the event. This should be in the form of a texture (no bigger than 256×256 pixels) which can be a photograph or illustration – but which again should include the name of the event and the date(s) / time(s)

Enclose BOTH of these in a notecard, together with a landmark for the event, give the notecard a suitable title (e.g. “Notification of XXX SL9B event”, where XXX is the name of your event), add contact details (in case we need to contact you) and send the covering notecard to Dmom2k Darwin in-world. Please ensure you get the details to Dmom2k on or before June 14th, 2012.

Please do make sure everything you send is 100% correct. We won’t have the time to check SLurls, landmarks or spelling. All received posters will be displayed in Givers at the hub, allowing visitors to collect notecards and LMs for events which interest them.

Let’s work together to make SL9B an awesome grid-wide celebration!

ETA: revised image size for posters. Now 256×256 rather than 512×512.

SL9B: Exhibitors – your next steps

The closing date for all applications relating to volunteers, entertainers and exhibitors (midnight SLT, June 3rd) is almost on us. Already, some 400 exhibitor applications have been received, and this being the case, here’s a short update for all exhibitors on what the next steps in the process will be. If you’re not already aware of things, please take a moment to read:

  • If your application is successful, you will receive an e-mail notifying you of your success, with (I understand) details of your assigned parcel
  • The e-mail will also contain key information on how to go about preparing to install your build
  • You will need to have two free Group slots – one for the SLB Community Group, one for the SLB Exhibitor Group
  • Membership of the Exhibitor Group is by invitation only – details of how to obtain an invitation will be provided in the e-mail
  • Please note that access to the SL9B sims will not be granted to anyone prior to 10:00 on Monday June 4th
  • Similarly, invitations to join the SLB Exhibitor Group will not be handed out prior to 10:00 on Monday June 4th
  • When installing your build on your parcel, please ensure you have the SLB Exhibitor Group as your active Group tag – if you do not, items will be auto-returned.

Important Note: As of June 2nd 2012, the Land Impact allowance (that’s the prim count in old money) for exhibits has been raised to 257.

As always, the SL9B spooksperson, The Prim Reaper, has supplied a video, this one demonstrating how to sign-up to the SLB Community, and which also provides additional information.

SL9B: The End of Days (for applications!) and Auditorium Bookings

If you haven’t already volunteered for the upcoming central SL9B celebrations, here’s another reminder that submissions close this Sunday, June 3rd (midnight SLT).

Applications for exhibit space have been pouring in, so if you are interested in securing a plot, make sure you complete the application form and get it in. Notifications on the success of applications will be sent out as soon as possible after the 3rd June, but please be aware this may take a little time due to the number of applications received. The SL9B spooksperson recently took time out to comment on the status of exhibitor applications and to give further information on the follow-up will be for exhibitors once applications have closed on Sunday.

Similarly, the organisers are still looking for helping hands, so if you wish to volunteer to help please do so. With four event stages within the celebration regions (including the water stage!), applications are still open for live entertainers and DJs as well.

Auditorium Bookings Form Available

The SL9B Auditorium booking form is now on-line. If you would like to use the auditorium for non-commercial group discussions or presentations about self-help, SL skills, community outreach, health, fashion, news, round tables, technology, etc – then please complete this form on-line.
