Updates for the week ending Sunday, September 10th

This summary is published every Monday, and is a list of SL viewer / client releases (official and TPV) made during the previous week. When reading it, please note:

  • It is based on my Current Viewer Releases Page, a list of all Second Life viewers and clients that are in popular use (and of which I am aware), and which are recognised as adhering to the TPV Policy. This page includes comprehensive links to download pages, blog notes, release notes, etc., as well as links to any / all reviews of specific viewers / clients made within this blog
  • By its nature, this summary presented here will always be in arrears, please refer to the Current Viewer Release Page for more up-to-date information.

Official LL Viewers

  • Current Release version, dated August 9th, promoted August 23rd – No change
  • Release channel cohorts (notes on manually installing RC viewer versions):
    • Wolfpack RC viewer, released September 8th – this viewer is functionally identical to the release viewer, but including additional back-end logging “to help catch some squirrelly issues.”
    • The Alex Ivy 64- bit viewer updated to version on September 5th.
  • Project viewers:
    • No updates.

  • Black Dragon released a 64-bit version, 2.9.0, on September 5th.


Mobile / Other Clients

  • No updates.

  1. Off topic of your Viewer release summaries. I have yet to see a discussion of what happened last week (Sept. 6) Wednesday regarding login failures. I have not seen anything from the lab regarding it either. Or I have missed it all and I am blind. Any clues for the clueless?


    1. I’ve yet to see anything; however, it may be that the post-mortem into the situation has yet to be finalised. That seemed to be the case when the subject was raised last week. Certainly, the question is liable to be raised at the simulator UG meeting on Tuesday, 12th.
