Updates from the week through to Sunday, July 2nd, 2023

This summary is generally published every Monday, and is a list of SL viewer / client releases (official and TPV) made during the previous week. When reading it, please note:

  • It is based on my Current Viewer Releases Page, a list of all Second Life viewers and clients that are in popular use (and of which I am aware), and which are recognised as adhering to the TPV Policy. This page includes comprehensive links to download pages, blog notes, release notes, etc., as well as links to any / all reviews of specific viewers / clients made within this blog.
  • By its nature, this summary presented here will always be in arrears, please refer to the Current Viewer Release Page for more up-to-date information.
  • Note that for purposes of length, TPV test viewers, preview / beta viewers / nightly builds are generally not recorded in these summaries.

  1. Thank you, as always, for so much thorough updating and information.

At present, my personal viewer choices are Firestorm + Genesis. I like FS for all the convenient bells and whistles. But Genesis continues to feel cleaner/faster. Specifically, when I’m cruising my bumper boat along the mainland rivers, FS typically hiccups at region crossings and Genesis goes by without a hitch. Even more dramatic are Diagonal Region Crossings where you’re essentially crossing from Region A to Region B and then 1 second later crossing into Region C. On those, FS often just freezes my bumper boat and I have no choice but to bail out, swim home, and get a new boat. With Genesis, it’s still a smooth, easy crossing.
